The Jacket -- R
A Desert Storm soldier (Adrian Brody) is shot in the head. After rehabilitation, he is returned to his native Vermont, suffering bouts of amnesia. He hitchhikes a ride and passes out, waking up next to a dead policeman, with no idea as to what had happened. He is sentenced to an asylum, where a well-meaning doctor (Kris Kristofferson) puts him on a heavy dose of experimental drugs, puts him in a strait jacket and locks him in a morgue drawer. Strange things happen to him while he is in that drawer, and a woman (Kiera Knightly) that he met when she was a little girl, is the key to his survival. Difficult to understand, at first, this movie is worth watching until the end. Nudity, violence, sexuality and language earned this movie its R rating.
Jarhead -- R
This movie depicts every negative personality trait of mankind and puts them as if they are indicative of Marines. The movie is unrealistic and booring, preachy and political. And can you tell me when has a Marine sniper team been sent to combart and not seen the enemy during the entire war?
Jeepers Creepers 2 -- R
If you take the 1st half of the first movie, and the 2nd half od this movie, you have a classic horror movie. As it is, this movie is better than the first, but barely. Great premise. A creature is awakened every 23 years and feeds on humans for 23 days, before he goes back into hibernation. Nothing can kill it, and it finds it's victims by smelling something in their fear. The execution of the story, however, wasn't too great. Lots of gory violence and vulgar language gave the movie a deserved R rating. Since the victims are supposed to be high schoolers, the cursing is early and often and intense.
Jersey Girl -- PG -13
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Afflack actually do some of their best acting in this movie. George Carlin is not raw for him, and the little girl will still your heart. The language is at the border of the PG-13 -- R envelope, and there are several sexual suggestive scenece and situations. One involves the children.
Johnny English -- PG
Mr. Bean meets James Bond -- literally. This movie is hysterically funny in parts and absolutely stupid in other parts. Hard to recommend for anything other than a video rental. Suggestive situations that turn bumbling gives the rating.
Joyeux Noel -- R
A movie based on a true incident of hope during World War I. The Germans, the French and the Irish -- on Christmas Eve -- put aside their war and sing Christmas ballads and play a game of soccer together. The interesting way their command reacted is what made the movie even better.
Jumper -- PG-13
Hayden Christenson discovers that a genetic anomaly has given him the ability to teleport himself. He also discovers others (Jamie Bell) have this ability and sworn enemies (Samuel Jackson), also.
Juno -- PG-13
A 16 year old, smart mouth high school girl (Ellen Page) gets pregnant and decides to do the responsible thing - find a couple to adopt the baby. (Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman)
Just Friends -- PG-13
This movie is a "cutesy" film about the fat, but friendly fellow from high school who grows into the handsome, but morally shallow man. When he goes back home, the cheerleader who considered him a "friend" is now (as she secretly always was) the target of his longings and love. Funny but predictable. I enjoyed this movie.
Just Like Heaven PG-13
An exceptional romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. This movie is about a young woman who never realizes the problems of working too hard until its too late. Loved it.
