Ultraviolet -- R
This movie should be called "Ultraviolent". This movie takes place in a repressive future where a group of people were genetically modified accidentally by a virus. The government attempts to eliminate them by unleashing a weapon disguised as a little boy (Cameron Bright) on the population, but the plot is foiled by Violet (Milla Jovovich). Think Aeon Flux, with a higher body count. Much, much higher.
Under the Tuscan Sun -- PG-13
Dianne Lane is a writing instructor who's husband cheats on her and leaves her moderately well-to-do, but alone. She goes on a gay tour of Tuscan, Italy and buys a villa, where she learns to live, and love, again. Sexually suggestive scenes and language are the reasons for the 13 on the PG - 13.
United 93 -- R
If you do not want to cry, then dont go see this movie. Although you already know the outcome, seeing it will still upset your sensibilities. A very, very good movie that is so emotionally draining
Unleashed -- R
When you have Jet Li in a movie, expect serious action. If you add Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman, expect serious acting. That's what you get with this stylized martial arts movie about a young man named Danny (Jet Li) being raised and trained as a vicious attack dog for a gangster debt collector (Bob Hoskins). Anytime the young man's collar is removed, he's fighting. With it on, he's sedate. One day he meets an elderly, blind piano tuner (Morgan Freeman) who uses music to teach Danny things of beauty about the world. Violence earned this movie it's R rating.
Uptown Girls -- PG-13
Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning in a movie that at times is heart-tugging, and at other times is hilarious. The story centers on two girls raised with privilege, only one of them loses those privileges when her accountant steals the inheritance her rock n roll father and mother left her when they died. Brittany is that girl, and she must get a job and learn how to be an adult. The one she gets is being nanny to the other girl, Dakota, who is an obsessive, phobic child that doesn't know how to be a child. The 13 of the PG-13 is for sexual situations.
The Upside of Anger -- R
A strong-willed, bitter woman (Joan Allen) is forced to raised her four headstrong daughters, (Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood, Keri Russell and Alicia Witt) each in various stages of age when her husband abndons her. To make matters worse, she falls for an alcoholic ex-baseball great neighbor (Kevin Costner) turned radio talk show host, who refuses to talk about baseball. One of the better performances of Kevin Costner's career. Rated R for sexual situations, vulgar language, comic violence and drug usuage.
