Movie List

V for Vendetta -- R

Adapted from a graphic novel (comic book), this movie stirred up controversy because of the nature of politics. One man's terrorist is another man's patriot. In a right wing totalitarian British society, a man wearing a mask blows up symbols of the British government to rally the people to democracy.

Van Helsing -- PG-13

This is the monster movie of all monster movies! This is the movie Wild, Wild West was trying to be. A fun ride of a movie that has the Frankenstein monster in it, the Wolfman, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Dracula. I thought the Invisible Man was in it -- but I couldn't see him! That's how the movie makes you feel. Giddy and funny! And don't forget Igor! The killing of these movie monsters gave this movie it's 13 of the PG-13 rating.

Vantage Point -- PG-13

A movie of political intrigue starring Dennis Quaid, Mathew Fox, Forest Whitaker, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver thats proves the old adage, "everything in life is your point of view".  This movie shows an assassination attempt on the President of the United States while at a political conference in Spain as viewed by eight different and diverse people.  Outstanding movie!!

Venus– R

Peter O'Toole plays an aging actor attracted to the grand niece of a fellow acting friend. Not only is the age difference a problem, but so is the fact that she doesn't like him. Outstanding performance, worthy of an Oscar© nomination.

Veronica Guerin -- R

Movie based on a true story of a reporter trying to expose a drug lord in Ireland. Excellent acting by Cate Blanchett in the lead role, and by the mobsters. Intensity of subject matter may be too much for kids; hence, the R rating. Also strong language.

The Village – PG-13

A tale of an isolated, close knit community town that holds some secrets. There is an evil and foreboding force in the surrounding forest that prevents all of the villagers from venturing near the trees. Except one. A mentally deficient young man. When the townsfolk need medical supplies, the bravest young man among them volunteers to go through the forest to the towns on the other side and return with needed supplies. The things that occur from this point on are what makes the movie good. Rated for the younger audience who will not guess the surprises in the movie. Adults will probably guess some of them, and say they guessed them all. Don’t try to guess. Just enjoy the movie.
