Waist Deep -- R
A gritty, well acted urban drama about a man who has his son accidently kidnapped in a car-jacking. The man, Tyrese Gibson, was set up by a beautiful female, Meagan Goode, who works for a notorious ganster/drug lord name Meat (The Game). Not for kids.
Waitress -- PG-13
Keri Russell is a pregnant, unhappily married waitress (to Jeremy Sisto) who bakes the most creative pies for a place called Joe's Diner. Old Joe (Andy Griffin) comes in everyday just to eat her emotional pies, with names like: 'I don't want Earl's baby' pie, and 'Kick in the pants' pie. Her fellow waitresses hear her complaints and encourages her to try the local doctor (Nathan Fillion).
Walk the Line R
Joaquin Phoenix is simply outstanding in the roll of a lifetime. Outstanding performance, even for those who aren't Johnny Cash fans. Although he was overlooked by the Golden Globes (foreign press), he is sure to get the Oscar nomination. Drug usage and sexual situations earned this movie the 13 of it's PG-13 rating.
Walking Tall -- PG-13
The Rock is dynamic in this retelling of the Walking Tall story. The action is good, and Johnny Knoxville is surprisingly good in his role. The story line isn't as believable as the original, but that's not why you go to a movie starring the Rock anyways. The violence gives the 13 to the PG-13 rating.
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit -- G
A claymation masterpiece from the same people who brought you Chicken Run, this movie is funny with that wry British humor that adults love, and the visuals that children love. When the small village have a vegetable festival, rabbits invade and become pest. A humane pest controller who just loves chesse (Wallace), with his trusty, truck driving dog (Gromit) tries to use science to control the appetite of the rabbits, but instead, they create a monster. No sex, violence, vulgar language or drug references, this movie is and should be rated G.
Walt Disney on the Front Lines -- unrated
This is a fantastic collection of animated feature films (2 of which were nominated for Academy Awards), recently declassified animated training shorts, rare footage and interview with the Disney Legends conducted by Leonard Maltin is a collectors dream. Vintage World War II material makes this historically signficant, as well as entertaining for the grown kids, as well as the little kids. This is one 2 disc set collectors must have.
Walt Disney's Vintage Mickey
This DVD has some of the original Mickey Mouse animated shorts, including "Steamboat Willie", which began it all. Lasting 65 minutes, this is for the nostalgia in us all. Good for the entire family, although kids might not like the black and white cartoons at first. They are too use to color.
War of the Worlds -- PG-13
Let me say first that I think Dakota Fanning is one of the five best actresses working today. Of any age. I also think Tom Cruise does some of his best acting when he's with Steven Spelberg. And Stephen Spelberg. He's one of the most loved and best directors of our time. However and there's always a however in life this movie is only worth a reduced price matinee. Several reasons for that: (1) Those had to be the dumbest people on Earth. Why run down the middle of the street when everyone else is being shot? Why go to a spot where lightning struck 26 times in a row? Why try to steal a car when every car in the city is broke? And how did you become successful in stealing the only working car? (2) The characters you don't activly dislike, you don't care about at all.
We Are Marshall PG
In the 1970's, Marshall University's football team, many fans and alumni were killed in a plane crash after a game. This movie shows the immediate aftermath and rebuilding of the school and town. Very inspirational.
The Wedding Crashers -- R
This film about divorce mediators who crash weddings in their off time is hilarious. John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and his partner Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) love to plan elaborate back stories to make their wedding crashing seem plausible. They engage people, rather than avoid them, as they pretend to have invitations to a wide variety of ethnically diverse weddings. They only go to the weddings for free meals and one night stands with the female guests. The story turns when they crash the wedding of Treasury Secretary William Cleary (Christopher Walken) and Vaughn conquers one daughter (Isla Fisher) who turns out to be a pyscho stalker, and Owens falls for the other daughter (Rachel McAdams) who has a boyfriend. The R rating is for the nudity, sexual situations and the language [f-bombs].
The Wedding DatePG-13
A single woman (Debra Messing) hires a male escort (Dermot Mulroney) to pretend to be her boyfriend and date when she journeys to England for her younger sisters wedding. Not only is her younger sister getting married first which her disapproving, nagging mother constantly reminds her but her ex-fiancé is the best man! She has to have a handsome date. Rated PG-13 for the sexual references.
Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins -- PG-13
An excellent family film about a successful man (Martin Lawrence) going home after nine years to visit the family he felt slighted him all his childhood. His father and mother (James Earl Jones and Margaret Avery), brother (Michael Clarke Duncan), foster brother (Cedric the Entertainer) and cousin Reggie (Mike Epps) show him that while nothing has changed, he is who he is because of them.
Welcome to Mooseport -- PG-13
A funny, welcomed movie in today's political debate atmosphere. Gene Hackman shows he can play anything. The 13 of the PG-13 is for vulgar language.
We Own the Night -- R
One man (Joaquin Phoenix) loves the thug lifestyle-- the fast times and even faster women. His brother (Mark Wahlberg) and his father (Robert Duvall) are policemen dedicated to ending crime in their New York borough. Clashes occur, violence ensues and a Russian mobster puts a hit on the father and brother. Not for kids, but good action for adults.
Whale Rider -- PG - 13
A very engaging story about a young New Zealand girl who must battle inflexible tradition in a backward, patriarchal society to earn the love and respect of the one man she loves above all others -- her grandfather, the Chief of their tribe. Brief vulgar language and a reference to drug use gave this the 13 on the PG - 13 rating. An excellent movie.
What a Girl Wants -- PG
A copy of "Princess Diary" with Amanda Bynes starring as the daughter of the American woman who got pregnant by the British "distinguished gentleman". The difference is that this father ( Colin Firth ) doesn't know his then girlfriend was pregnant, and the daughter goes to London to find him. As the father is about to get married to a "proper" British woman with a daughter, sparks fly. There is some language considered "mildly vulgar". The movie is really for Amanda Bynes fans.
What Happens In Vegas -- PG-13
A hilarious movie of opposites attracting to each other, learning to hate one another, yet having to stay with each other. Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher shine in this romantic comedy that you MUST stay to the end of the credits for.
White Chicks -- PG-13
The Wayan brothers always get bad reviews from critics. Their movies, however, are always funny. The question then becomes, Does funny have to be socially redeeming? If two white men dressed up as black women and were "ghetto fabulous" and called the movie Black Chicks, would that be acceptable? Whatever answer you decide for your children, when the movie is funny it is hilarious. When it misses it misses by a mile. Several sexual situations and crude language gives this movie the 13 of the PG-13 rating.
The Whole Ten Yards -- PG-13
Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry and Amanda Peet make a hysterically funny trio trying to turn their lives around. One is a retired hitman, one wants to be a hitman and the other wants to rescue his wife from hitmen. This sequel isn't as good as the original, but it is funny. The violence is PG-13 violence.
The Wicker Man -- PG-13
A remake of the 1973 movie of the same name about a private island run by women. Nicolas Cage, a motorcycle cop that witnesses an accident involving a mother and her daughter, goes to this island after receiving a letter from a long ago girlfriend. The girlfriend tells him that her daughter has been kidnapped for some mysterious ritual by someone on that island.
The Wild -- G
The movie reminds you of Madagascar "lite". A good movie that the entire family will like if watched together. Otherwise, send the kids.
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton -- PG-13
The title made this seem like a "chick flick", but it really isn't. It's a funny and touching tale of relationships, both secret and obvious. Drug reference and a sexual situation gives this movie it's PG-13 rating, but it's one the entire family can enjoy.
Woman Thou Art Loosed -- R
This movie is based on Bishop T.D. Jakes novel about a womans (Kimberly Elise) struggle to come to terms with her sexual abuse, and its consequences. She first turns to drugs and prostitution and crime, before she turns to God. Drug usage, sexual situations and violence earned this movie an R rating.
The Woodsman -- R
Kevin Bacon plays a convicted pedophile that returns to his hometown after being incarcerated for 12 years, and attempts to start a new life. He moves into an apartment across from an elementary school, and gets a manual labor job that requires no mental challenge, but a great deal of physical labor. A disturbing subject matter, raw language and sexuality earned this movie an R rating. However and theres always a however in life the acting and intensity of this movie makes it one of the better movies of the year.
World Trade Center -- PG-13
An intense, well made movie. No conspiracy concepts -- just the facts, maam. The facts. This movie will make you cheer and cry before you get to the end. You will wonder, as I did, "...what must it take to make a man rush into a building that everyone else is rushing out of?"
Wrong Turn -- R
"Delieverence - the sequel". Several inbred, cannibalistic mountain men chase a group of teenagers to maim, kill and eat them. Gross violence, drug use, nudity of a sexual and non-sexually content and cannibalism helped this movie earn an R rating.
