Overview:
Pacific Fighters is the latest flight simulator in the IL2 series from creator Oleg Maddox, and Ubisoft Entertainment. Pacific Fighters is compatible with previous versions of the game, "Forgotten Battles", and the "ACE" expansion pack or can be installed as a stand alone product. Pacific Fighters and its predecessors are on track to pull the flight simulator market right out from under Microsofts feet, but the overall quality of the product is a (B) at best. Many of the promised features were never finished and further development is on hold while copy write issues are worked out with Grumman Aircraft Inc. Ubisoft and 1 C Maddox games have a history of development and publishing problems that have kept the game from being everything players had hoped. But still IL2, Forgotten Battles, and Pacific Fighters are by far the most accurate flight simulations every published for the personnel computer. Pacific Fighters is a highly complicated and realistic flight simulator set in the Pacific theater of WWII. It has been acclaimed by Discovery Wings as the most historically accurate PC flight Simulator available. Most Young children will not be able to comprehend the games controls enough to play it, but Pacific Fighters is becoming very popular among older teens, and Younger aviation fans. There are occasional bouts of bad language involved in the game. Expletives are common to the 1940s era. Although you may hear the Lords name used in vain, for the most part characters in the game behave like Military officers and only lose their cool when their aircraft comes apart. In game violence is very mild. The graphics of the game are focused on the aircraft and not the human characters so there is no blood or gore.
Summary:
I would highly recommend Pacific Fighters to children 13 and over. The game has a steep learning curve so kids will get bored with it and give up quickly, or they will appreciate it and enjoy it for many years.
